Woke Games
Why this
niche?
In this niche, I came across a channel that started just 2 months ago and already has over 3.6 million views. On top of that, the audience here is huge, so once you go viral, there are a lot of views waiting for you. The key is figuring out how to trigger this audience, and that’s exactly what I’ll explain in this analysis. So if you are interested in video games, then maybe this is the one for you.

00:00
Giving the viewer what they clicked for, but...
'Henry Cavill has just humiliated Amazon, after their nonsensical attempt to woke Warhammer perfect and most loved lore.'
The fact that the first sentence of their script is matching so well with what the viewer clicks for, will definitely make sure that they don't give the viewer the feeling of clickbait. But there's one thing I'd change in this intro. I'll go into more details about this at don'ts.
00:10
Real footage
I really like that they use real footage of Henry Cavill because that's what people want to see. Especially if your title is Henry Cavill Just HUMILIATED Amazon, then it's a must to include real footage of him in your video.
1:20
Using footage of the game
The people watching this video are probably fans of Warhammer 40K (the game), so using lots of game clips is a smart idea. It catches their attention and keeps them interested by showing something they already love.
Don'ts
00:00
Female voice-over
Because the audience in this niche consist mostly of men, I think it would be a way better fit to include a man as voice-over.
00:48
Add this in the first seconds of your video
Yes, they're giving the viewer what they clicked for at the beginning of this video by talking about the title, and yes they also show some real footage of the actor, but it takes 48 seconds to hear him talking with his own voice. It's even better to give them at the beginning a real clip with original sound because then they know that they can expect that in the video as well while providing the value they're searching for, so you're actually giving them a reason to continue watching.
3:59
Not enough triggering hooks
The script isn’t bad, but it’s missing some strong hooks to really trigger the audience. Some examples:
• But if you thought this was it, you're wrong...
• Think you've seen it all? Think again...
• But hold on, because this is where it gets crazy...

✅ Great thumbnail
I really like the text on this thumbnail because this will definitely raise a lot of questions by our audience. Plus, the thumbnail is clean and easy to read, with just two main focus points. The combination of the text and his facial expression matches perfectly. So, this is definitely a great example to take inspiration from.

✅ Triggering thumbnail, but...
The thumbnail is definitely triggering, but it’s also a bit risky. From what I’ve seen, there’s not a single clip in the video where Cavill is actually talking to Jimmy Kimmel, so this is pretty much clickbait. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it, but you should be aware of the risks involved. At the very least, make sure to include one relevant clip in the video if you’re using a thumbnail like this. Cavill did appear on Jimmy Kimmel about 8 months ago, so there’s footage out there you can use.

How to find topics?
To find topics in this niche, it’s crucial to understand what works and what doesn’t. During my analysis, I noticed that the approach of the most popular videos taken by our competitor’s channel is the best way to continue in this niche. We can see that these videos perform very well, especially when the name Henry Cavill is mentioned. Henry Cavill is a well-known actor who plays this game and isn’t shy about sharing his opinions on certain changes in the game, whether they’ve already happened or are expected to occur. The great thing about this is that you can combine the names of a celebrity with a popular game. This combination means that if your content goes viral, you have the potential to reach a very big audience.
Going back to the topics, I would suggest only making videos about woke games and keeping a close watch on the things Henry Cavill says. Below, I’ll list some other woke games you might want to try:
- Mortal Kombat 11
Criticized for toning down the sexualization of female characters, leading to debates about political correctness in gaming. - God of War
Faced backlash for removing explicit content present in earlier installments, with some fans accusing it of succumbing to "woke" culture. - Hades II
Encountered early criticism for its diverse character representation, with detractors labeling it as "woke." - Assassin's Creed Shadows
The introduction of a Black samurai protagonist led to debates over historical accuracy and accusations of forced diversity. - Hogwarts Legacy
Faced controversy for including a transgender character, prompting discussions about inclusivity in the Harry Potter universe.
YouTube: On YouTube, you can find plenty of topic inspiration from the channels I’ve linked below. Focus on their most popular videos, check when the topic was uploaded to ensure it’s still relevant, and create your own unique videos based on that without directly copying them.

Topic:
To come up with my own topic in this niche, I decided to dive into the story of Warhammer 40K, because we've seen that it works. I started by Googling some articles to start my research. Then I came across a list (linked below) whether they include "woke" elements or not. After that, I kept digging on YouTube and found a really interesting video from one of our competitor channels. It was posted pretty recently, like two weeks ago, which tells me this topic, along with the thumbnail and title, really triggers the audience. That’s more than enough reason for me to continue on that.

How to create your thumbnails?
To create my thumbnail in this niche, I searched on YouTube to find an interview of Henry Cavill to take a screenshot of a moment when he looked 'angry'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osISdOrWNeg. Then, I used cutout.pro to enhance the quality of my image.
Gradient Overlay, Camera Raw Filter and White Shadow
I moved on to Photoshop next, adding a gradient to the right side of the thumbnail to make the text stand out more. Then, I applied the Camera Raw filter and adjusted settings like Whiten, Sharpen, Texture, and Exposure to fine-tune the look. To finish it off, I painted a subtle white shadow behind Cavill, giving the thumbnail an extra pop.
Eventually I added the text 'IT'S ALL A LIE' because I think that will raise a lot of questions. What is a lie? Did I miss something? Click. So if you followed all the steps, then your thumbnail will look like this:
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience like?
Henry Cavill
This audience is filled with passionate Henry Cavill fans. Any mention of his name instantly grabs their attention, so this is definitely something to keep in mind if you are going to search for topics.
Being Anti-Woke
This audience enjoys being anti-woke because it gives them a sense of pushing back against mainstream trends. They especially dislike it when games make changes that they feel are driven by 'woke ideals, seeing it as unnecessary or forced. For them, it’s about keeping games the way they were meant to be, without changes they think ruin the original experience.
Stick to the old rules
This is a big trigger for them. They really don’t like it when new writers come into a game and start changing things, thinking they’re making it better. This audience feels the exact opposite because they see these changes as ruining what made the game special in the first place.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience not like?
Talking about Woke positively
Even if it’s just a small detail in the script that’s shown in a slightly positive light, this audience will definitely let you know it bothers them.
