niche?

In this niche, I found a channel that posted only three videos and immediately gained traction. This shows that the chances of success are high because the competition is low. There’s a huge audience out there waiting for videos in the style our competition is posting. If you’re a fan of famous rockstars like Axl Rose, Ozzy Osbourne, Anthony Kiedis, or Eddie Vedder and many more, then this niche is definitely for you.

00:00

Giving them what they click for

I really like how they start the video. When you look at the title and the first few seconds of the video, they deliver exactly what the viewer clicked for and that's one of the most important reasons why your video can go viral. Great start!

00:00

Blurry video editing effect that raises questions

By adding a blurry effect, it raises questions about which rockstars the video is going to focus on. The viewer can see some rockstars, but because of the blur, they can’t tell exactly who they are. This is a great trick to increase the chances that they’ll keep watching at the start. And since the script delivers on what they clicked for, there’s a good balance between giving viewers what they want and keeping them interested.

00:00

Nice voice-over

The voice-over they’ve chosen is one I’d pick myself. I like the tone and the enthusiasm in this voice. Whether it’s AI or not, it’s definitely a high-quality voice-over that does a great job of delivering the story and message.

00:15

Real footage

This is exactly the type of content this audience loves. If real footage is available, it’s crucial to include it in your video. It keeps viewers engaged longer because they appreciate and enjoy seeing authentic content of their favorites rockstars.

1:42

Home video style

This part is really important to pay attention to because what they’re doing here is great. Why? Because the script matches the footage perfectly, and as you might know, when the visuals match what you hear, it keeps your attention much better. They introduce the visuals, pause the voice-over, and use the real footage. This is a good example of a well-thought-out script that gives the viewer as much value as possible. You can definitely take an example from this.

3:12

Continuously switching in background music

The fact that they keep switching the background music is a great move. It makes the experience of the video much better because the viewer can feel more engaged. The fact that they do this so often shows the high quality of the editing, which is really well done in this video. It might seem like a small detail, but these little things can make your video stand out just a bit more than the competition.

6:00

Great transitions

'But by far one of the most badass things the band has done is directly taking on Ticket Master..'

The technique they’re using here is something I’d suggest too. They create one story with smooth transitions to the next, so the viewer doesn’t even notice they’ve moved on to a new topic. It’s the same trick I’ve talked about before in other niches. If you don’t know what I mean, I recommend watching this video because they use the same method. Make sure your script has plenty of these hooks, as they’ll really help improve your AVD.

Dads CDs

Used title 1

<span class="text-color-orange">Most Loved</span> VS <span class="text-color-orange">Most Hated</span> <span class="text-color-yellow">Rockstars</span>

I can see how this title could work well, especially when combined with a triggering thumbnail. There’s a good chance this title will raise questions, like whether their favorite rockstar will be mentioned or which other names will appear in the video. So overall, the title is fine, it’s short, triggering and makes the viewer want to click to find out the answer. The title structure they used is as follows:

Most [TRIGGERWORD] Vs Most [TRIGGERWORD] + Rock stars

Dads CDs

Used title 2

<span class="text-color-yellow">Rockstars</span> Who <span class="text-color-orange">HATE</span> Each Other

Great title! This title can also definitely raise a lot of questions and FOMO. Which rock stars hate each other? Did I miss something? -> Click. So here we see another great title structure that you can take an example from. The great thing about this title is that you can change the trigger word HATE to your own topic. That means that the title structure is the same, but the topic is different. Some examples:

• Rockstars Who DESTROYED Each Other’s Careers

• Rockstars Who EXPOSED Each Other

Dads CDs

Used title 3

<span class="text-color-yellow">Rockstars</span> Who <span class="text-color-orange">Destroyed</span> Their <span class="text-color-yellow">Careers</span> <span class="text-color-red">In Seconds</span>

Another great title! It follows the same structure as before, so there’s not much new to say about that. However, I really like this title because it uses plenty of trigger words like Rockstars, Destroyed, and Career, and it also includes a time reference (in seconds), which adds urgency. Overall, this is a great example to learn from and definitely worth considering as inspiration:

Rockstars Who [TRIGGERWORD] + [TOPIC] + [TRIGGERWORD]

Other examples:

• Rockstars Who Destroyed Their Reputations Overnight

• Rockstars Who Shocked Their Fans With Major Scandals

Titles

Good titles contain emotional trigger words that ensure that a viewer will click your video. Emotional trigger words can be divided into 3 categories:

Curiosity (Words like: Banned, Exposed, Hidden, Illegal etc.)

Urgency/Unique: (Things like: Numbers, Limited Timed, Days etc.)
Titles: (Things like: Job titles, Family relations, Famous names etc.)

✅ This is fine, but...

This thumbnail is okay, but I think it could be much better. The message they want to convey is clear, but it also gives away a lot of information. To improve it, I’d suggest holding back just a little bit of information. For example, add a third photo, blur it, and place a question mark above or below it. This way, the thumbnail itself creates curiosity, giving viewers a reason to click because they’ll want to know who the third person is and whether they are loved or hated. But the most important thing to add to create curiosity is some text on the thumbnail, as that’s definitely what’s missing here. I'll go into more details about this at thumbnail 2.

❌ Not triggering enough

The title of this thumbnail is Rockstars Who HATE Each Other, and I can see why people in this niche would click on it. The thumbnail leaves the answer unclear, which makes viewers curious enough to want to find out more. However, in my opinion, it’s not as triggering as it could be. When you’re talking about rockstars who hate each other, I would definitely use a situation where there’s visible conflict, like an argument, a fight, or some real footage that adds drama and makes the story feel more shocking because that’s exactly what’s missing here. If you combine that with a triggering text like: HEATED FIGHT! But If you prefer to keep this thumbnail style our competition is using, one option could be to blur the faces of a few rockstars on the thumbnail. This creates more questions for the viewer, making them wonder which rockstars the video is about. This way, you can spark curiosity without giving everything away upfront.

How to find topics?

During my analysis of this niche, I noticed that choosing the right topics is absolutely crucial. The views show that there’s a massive audience for this content, and our competition channel have posted only three videos yet gained traction immediately. This highlights the high chances of success in this niche. While researching further, I couldn’t find another channel quite like Dad’s CDs. This makes it even more important to closely analyse the topics they choose and understand what’s working for them:

1. Most Loved VS Most Hated Rockstars

2. Rockstars Who HATE Each Other

3. Rockstars Who Destroyed Their Careers In Seconds

As you can see, the topics they choose are more focused on evergreen content rather than breaking news. They create a stark contrast between extremes, primarily highlighting the darker sides of these rockstars' lives. So this pattern to focus on the negative is definitely the key to success within this niche. But I think it’s even better to create topics that focus on just one rockstar. By talking in singular terms, you can dive deeper into their story and avoid running out of topics too quickly. Rockstar lives are often filled with lots of drama so there’s plenty of material to work with. Here are some examples to try:

  1. Rockstars Who Went From Heroes to Villains
  2. Rockstars Who Lost Everything Overnight
  3. The Most Shocking Rockstar Scandals That Changed Everything
  4. Rockstars Who Ruined Their Lives With One Decision
  5. Famous Rockstars Who Completely Vanished Without a Trace

or

  1. The Rockstar Who Exposed Industry’s Darkest Secrets
  2. The Rockstar Who Disappeared After a Huge Scandal
  3. The Rockstar Who Ruined Everything in seconds
  4. The Rockstar Who Got Canceled and Never Recovered
  5. The Rockstar Who Lost Everything Overnight

Topic:

To create my own topic in this niche, I started by searching on YouTube. From analysing our competition, it’s clear that creating an evergreen topic that highlights something shocking or negative from a rockstar’s life works best. Next, I used ChatGPT for topic inspiration and mentioned the example Rockstars Who HATE Each Other. Then, ChatGPT provided me with 10 other ideas, including one titled Rockstars Who Were Caught in Major Scandals. I then searched on Google to find news articles related to this topic, and here’s what I found:

Rockstars Who Were Caught In Major Scandals

How to create your title?

I chose this title because it gives the audience some 'shocking' information, but they’ll need to click to find out more. I kept it short and used trigger words like Caught and Major Scandals, which I think will definetly grab this audience’s attention. We’re talking about shocking moments from rockstars' lives, and as we've learned, that's exactly what this audience wants to see.

Title structure: Rockstars Who Where Caught in [TRIGGERWORD] + [TOPIC]

Rockstars Who Where EXPOSED in SHOCKING Scandals

YOUR VIDEO

Thumbnail example

How to create your thumbnail?

First, I searched for a photo of a rockstar and wanted it to have a slightly old and vintage quality, and this is what I came up with. It’s a good thing that the 'main picture' looks a bit innocent, so we can shift the focus to the blurred section later.

Camera Raw filter & Mosaic Blur

Then I continued with Camera Raw Filter to make him stand out even more and blurred the face of the woman on the left to raise some questions by the audience.

Add focus point and black shadow

To create a 'shocking' focus point, I searched Google for an image related to a rockstar scandal. I found a picture with the blurred part I wanted, so I cropped it and used it on my thumbnail. I added a red outer glow to make it stand out even more. Finally, I darkened the top of the thumbnail slightly to ensure the text pops better.

Eventually, I added the text: LEAKED TAPE! to create FOMO and spark curiosity with questions like: What kind of tape? Is this what I think it is? -> Click.
