Scary Sounds
Why this
niche?
In this niche, I found a channel that started just 4 months ago and is already getting over 1.2M+ views per month. This audience loves watching videos with scary sounds, especially related to space. The best part about this niche is that there's a lot of room for improvement, so the chances of succes are very high. So, if you're into scary sounds and space, this could be a great fit for you.

Space footage
Because the title indicates the topic is about space, it's a must to include a clip like this. This audience is probably very interested in scary sounds (from space) otherwise they wouldn't click. Nice clips.
Don'ts
00:00
Not giving the audience what they clicked for
They start with, 'Let’s look at the scariest sounds of outer space,' which sets the expectation. But then, they follow with, 'But first, how is this possible?' I get the idea, they want to build up the story, but delaying the content too long is a huge risk for losing viewers who want immediate value. A better approach might be to keep the same intro but include at least one scary space sound right away. This way, you hook viewers with what they came for and keep them interested to hear the rest of it.

This takes too long
We’re now 34 seconds into the video, and I still haven’t heard a single scary space sound. The voice-over can make promises to the audience, but it’s often better to skip the buildup and get straight to the action. As I have already mentioned, if they start with just one creepy sound right away, viewers get exactly what they came for and are instantly triggered. Now, they only make promises but don't deliver, and that can certainly lose viewers.
00:39
Bad timing
'But first off, we need to fix this.'
If there’s one thing I’d never do in my video, it’s this. It’s not just how they ask, it’s the timing. There’s almost no worse moment for this if you ask me. The viewer has already waited too long for the scary sounds, and just when you think they’ll finally deliver, they throw in another delay. It’s frustrating and doesn’t give any real value. No one is going to subscribe to a channel that keeps holding back what they promised. It would be so much better to ask this at another point in the video (when they actually delivered some value first) or, even better, not ask to subscribe at all.
00:43
No triggering transitions
There's no triggering announcement for the sound we are finally going to hear, so that's definitely a missed chance if you ask me. This continues throughout the whole script, with every sound they reveal. These are exactly the moments where you can add hooks, grab the viewer’s attention, and give them a reason to keep watching. I’ll add some examples below.
• But if you thought this was it, you're wrong
• Just when you thought it couldn’t get any stranger... it does.
• Think space couldn’t get darker? Listen closely.

Long outro
The fact that there's no voice-over speaking, and you already know by the first sentence that it's the end, a lot of people will already click away instead of start reading the outro. Just keep it short, so your AVD will not drop in the end.

This thumbnail got more than 1.3M+ views
This thumbnail isn’t exactly my style, but it’s worth noting that it’received over 1.3 million views. Representing “sound” in an image is something very challenging, so that’s a limitation to keep in mind if you want to start in this niche. What I do like about this thumbnail is its clarity, there aren’t too many distractions, so it’s easy to read. However, I do think it’s missing color. On YouTube, where thumbnails compete for attention, color is key. Adding more color would definitely help this thumbnail stand out and could make viewers more likely to click on it. Besides that, this thumbnail is fine.

More color, but...
This thumbnail is fine. Like I mentioned with the first thumbnail, I feel it still lacks enough color. They’ve added a bit more here, but it’s not quite enough for me. I’d definitely make sure the planets are fully colored so that if there’s a black background, they stand out more. Also, it’s better to show that it’s set in space, so I’d add a few stars or light points to make it look more realistic and clear to the viewer.

How to find topics?
In this niche, there’s plenty of inspiration and sounds available online. But before diving in, let’s take a look at a competitor's channel and see which topics perform well and which don’t. In my analysis, I noticed that videos about scary sounds from space are very popular. But, it’s not just space because scary sounds in general seem to really engage this audience as well.
Because our audience likes scary sounds from space and in general, it's clear that this audience also prefers real footage. So keep that in mind when choosing your clips. Real footage can really capture their attention, even if the quality isn’t perfect. Focus on finding as much real footage as possible, it’s all about the message you want to convey and the authenticity of the sounds.
YouTube: YouTube is a great place for finding topic ideas. I found a few channels where videos about scary sounds get lots of views, while their other topics don’t perform as well. This is another confirmation that if you want to start in this niche, the chances of success are definitely there.

Google: With Google, I simply search for scariest space sounds as well, and noticed the page of NASA. There, you can also find a lot of information, articles and sounds. The great thing about this page is, that everything is so well and clearly explained. So if you want to start in this niche, I'd definitely take a look here.

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I started searching on TikTok because I noticed it’s a great place for topic inspiration. Since we know that scary space sounds-related content works well in this niche, I decided to go with the topic I'll link below. Of course, we'll need some space clips, but I also found some great real footage that can be used to fill out the video. I believe the audience enjoys that kind of content too. By including that, you can add more value than our competition while still focusing on the scary sounds.

How to create your thumbnail?
I started by searching Google for two images of Saturn because I noticed that videos about Saturn get a lot of views on competitor channels. So, I knew Saturn would be a great choice. Since color is key for thumbnails, I specifically looked for colorful images of Saturn. I also decided to include Jupiter to create a strong contrast, using both planets together in a single thumbnail.
Photoshop
Then, I extended the background in Photoshop and used the Camera Raw Filter to make the planets even sharper.
Black shadow & Volume Icon
To make the planets stand out even more, I choose to add some dark shadow on the thumbnail. That way, the text I'll add later, and the icons will be a lot more visible to read.
In the end, I added the text Saturn Rings and Jupiter Lightning on the thumbnail. It's important to name a specific detail from a planet, so that your thumbnail can raise some questions. Because if you don't, it will not be that triggering. So always try to search for something on that planet that makes a sounds that you can use for your thumbnail. If you followed all the steps, then this will be your end result:
