Starting with real footage
Great start! Using real footage right at the beginning is almost a must in this niche, especially since, as we’ve seen, you’re dealing with passionate Lion King fans. Of course, this comes with copyright risks, so make sure to only show it for a few seconds or add video effects to avoid issues. I’ll go into more detail about this in the 'How to Create Your Video' section.

Giving them what they click for
'If you've watched The Lion Guard, you've probably wondered: Why was Kion missing from The Lion King 2?'
Starting the script with a sentence like this after the clip showing real footage is a very smart move. The title already sets up curiosity, as this audience will be clicking to find out why Kion wasn’t in The Lion King 2. On top of that, mentioning 'if you’ve watched The Lion Guard' is a brilliant touch because most viewers of this video are likely fans who have probably seen it, so that will create a sense of recognition. By addressing the question they already have in their minds and giving them confirmation, they’re definitely hooking this audience.

Triggering sound effect
I’m not saying your editor has to use this specific sound effect, but I do want to point out that using sound effects in general is often a great idea. When I watched this intro, it definitely caught my attention because it disrupted the flow of the video in an interesting way. Adding this kind of effect every now and then can wake up the viewer, grab their attention, and help pull them deeper into the story.
00:13
Thrilling background music
I like the feeling they’re trying to create here. Using this kind of thrilling background music can help draw the viewer deeper into the story, keeping them engaged for longer. It builds up the suspense, and I think this vibe works really well with the topics they’ve chosen.

Trigger your audience
'Well for that, we need to go to the point where Kion defeats Scars Evil spirit in the Lion Guard.'
Highlighting the value the viewer is looking for, but first telling them to pay attention to this part before they get the answer, is a very smart strategy. It keeps the viewer’s curiosity and attention high because, in other words, you’re telling them the answer is coming later. While they’re watching, they know in the back of their mind that something important is still on its way. It’s a clever trick that I would definitely recommend using in your script!

Nice hook
'But unfortunately, Kion wasn't the only one that got hurt during this battle...'
Great hook! They're giving the viewer enough reason here to continue watching the video, and this definitely one I'd use in my own videos. Some other example hooks you could use as well:
• But if you thought this was it, you're wrong...
• But what happened next left everyone shocked...
• And that’s when things got even crazier...
3:43
Speaking the same language as your audience
These are questions the viewer might already have in their mind, so if you ask me, it’s definitely a good idea to mention them alongside a thrilling sound effect. This way, you literally grab the viewer’s attention, especially if they’re starting to lose focus on the story, as the sudden shift in tone brings them back into the video.

Personal opinion
I really like how they make the script feel personal. This approach helps build a recognizable brand on YouTube and increases the chances that viewers will return for more videos. To achieve this, it’s best to find a scriptwriter who has a genuine passion for The Lion King or to use AI capable of writing in a more personal and relatable style. I personally prefer videos where it feels like the narrator is just speaking casually from their room. It makes everything feel more real, like there’s an actual person with their own opinions behind the screen. Great script!

✅ 3 Focus points, but...
What I like about this thumbnail is that it keeps things simple with only three focus points, which makes the thumbnail clean and easy to follow. However, I’m not a big fan of including a question in the thumbnail, especially since the title of the video, 'This is Why Kion Wasn’t in The Lion King 2,' is a statement. There’s definitely room to make it even stronger. So what I'd advise in this case, is adding a text like 'SHOCKING TRUTH!' or 'BIG SECRET!' and use a red arrow to highlight a small detail in the thumbnail. You could also blur that part to make it even more mysterious and raise more questions. This approach grabs more attention and creates lots of curiosity, which makes it much harder for viewers to scroll past without clicking.

❌ Not triggering enough
This thumbnail is their 3rd most popular video, which shows that this audience is highly engaged and will even click on a thumbnail like this with almost no trigger points. That’s a positive sign to me, because if this thumbnail can get over 200K views, imagine what you could achieve with an improved version. There’s definitely room for improvement here, especially when looking at this thumbnail. The title that goes with this thumbnail goes as follows: 'This is How Kion Really Became a Legend.' If you ask me, I’d change the background to something happening and the text to something like this:
• EXPOSED SECRETS!
• LEAKED TRUTH!
• HIDDEN FACTS!
• PROOF LEAKED!
• SCANDAL REVEALED!
• DARK TRUTH!
• HIDDEN TRUTH!
• SHOCKING TRUTH!
• SECRET EXPOSED!
• TRUTH EXPOSED!

How to find topics?
Important: If you want to start in this niche, it’s crucial to know at least some of the basic facts about The Lion King. Without this knowledge, it might be difficult to succeed in this niche. Ideally, you should find a scriptwriter who has a passion for this topic. Besides, you could also use AI to create your scripts, as long as you can add a personal touch to make them feel authentic.
To figure out what works in this niche, it’s important to first take a look at their most popular topics. Which ones are successful, and which aren’t? To make it as easy as possible for you, I'll put them down below so you can recognize the pattern of Film Secrets:
- This is Why Kion Wasn't In the Lion King 2
- This is Why the Strange Lion Could be Zira's Father
- This is How Kion Really Became a Legend
- This is Why Kopa Wasn't in the Lion King Movies
During my analysis of this channel, I noticed something. If you look at their 4 most popular videos, there’s a clear pattern. Two of them are successful because they talk about characters who weren’t in The Lion King 2 or other movies. The other videos focus on what if scenarios, using imagination but are still presented as statements because of the beginning of their title: This is Why....' This approach seems to work really well with their audience. Some other examples:
YouTube: On YouTube, I found another channel where you can take a lot of topic inspiration from:

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I wanted to focus on one that raises a lot of questions. I kept in mind which topics have performed well on our competition channels and decided to use the same title structure they’ve been using. I started searching on YouTube for inspiration and came across the video I linked down below. I think this is a great topic because almost everyone who knows The Lion King knows Scar. Since there are a lot of misconceptions about Scar, I believe we can angle the topic to suggest that Scar’s behavior had a reason and a much darker/deeper story behind it. I’ve noticed in several comments on videos about Scar that some people actually feel a bit of sympathy for him. I want to use that sentiment and combine it with the 'This Is Why' title structure. I think this approach can spark a lot of curiosity and lead to a highly engaging topic.

How to create your thumbnail?
First, I searched for an image of Scar on Google. While searching, I came across this one, and since this scene is very well-known, this would be a great choice to trigger viewers' curiosity, as many people will recognize it.
Photoshop
Next, I went to Photoshop and added a black shadow at the top of the thumbnail to make the text stand out more. I also decided to tone down the brightness of the background so that the lions would pop out even more.
Brightness
Finally, I added a red arrow to raise questions. Where is the arrow pointing? Did I miss something? These are the kinds of thoughts that might go through the viewer's mind because I’ve created an extra focal point. I also increased the brightness a bit more since I felt the lions still weren’t standing out enough.
In the end I added the text PROOF LEAKED! so that it matches with the title and because it can create a lot of FOMO. Especially for the ones who know this popular scene, it will definitely trigger them.
