Disturbing Explanations
Why this
niche?
You see lots of different channels showing up with this format of videos. With an average of 3M views per month for a channel in existence for 2 months, shows that there is plenty of potential for startups in this niche.

To the point
Can't mention it enough to start straight away with the topic in your video, especially when you are in this niche. They come to learn something and will be triggered if they do so. You even see multiple comments being made about how much they like the way the video begins.

Background music
You hear a kind of background music that works well together with the story. We learned from the audience that humor works well, that's why this funny background music works very good. By using this kind of music, you can keep your audience questioning, which makes them watch longer. If this is hard to understand, I have a good example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgSApOreqN0
This is one of the competitors who used a misplaced background music and therefore the story already comes across very differently, and you are less interested to keep watching longer.

Easy to understand storytelling
Visual content is processed 60,000 times faster than text. So to tell the story with extreme facts and by using small simple images popping up, the viewer needs to put in incredibly little effort to understanding it. Using obvious links such as a tombstone with R.I.P. on it, illustrating an idea with a light bulb and showing bones as human remains. This makes your story super easy to understand and along with humor, fun to keep watching.

Human voice-over
This channel chooses to use a human voiceover instead of AI. You notice by that you also listen to the story much better and stay hooked longer as a result. You can also see in the link I posted above that the channel uses a different voiceover. Furthermore, you can well hear the difference between that voice over and the one on this channel.

✅ Great style
Normally I would not be positive about this format. It doesn't go with the 3 focus points that I explain in almost every niche analysis. But this catches on, it even works very well. This is because there are plenty of bright colors used, which draws your attention. What this channel also does well is only showing 9 topics. You see in other thumbnails that there are more than 9 topics being shown, which makes the thumbnail less readable or understandable. Here is an example:

✅ Unique icons
What I like about these thumbnails is that they're a little different from what the competition is doing. The competition is often just showing icons with bright colors like this one for example:
And by using custom icons, you can differentiate yourself from the competition. I'm not saying that these icon thumbnails are not good because they're working great as well, but these custom icons makes you unique.

How do I find Topics?
How do we find a good topic that does well with the competition without completely copying it. We have already seen that completely copying topics does not do well among your audience. It is very noticeable that people like to see a mix of dark humor along with the most serious illnesses and ways of death. There are multiple topics you can talk about that also do well such as supernatural, tribe's and cults for example. As long as you explain everything with humor and properly. That will keep the people hooked longer to your videos. I took a look at the competing channels to see their most popular topics.

Ask your audience:
You see with many channels that they will ask for the next topic themselves in the comments. This is also an excellent way to find new topics that your competitors don't have. You can also find good topics by going to the community page if they ask community questions there. Many times this is also where they are asked what they want to see in the next videos. Asking your audience also shows that you are listening to them and creating a connection with them. I have even found topics through this at other channels. Here is a list I found of topics that people asked for in comments of the other channels:
1. Demonstration method
2. The most disturbing facts
3. Creepiest deaths
4. Common disease
5. Programmed Teaching
6. Extreme laws
7. Debate Method
8. Storytelling Method
9. Craziest heists
10. Role Playing method
11. Mental illness
12. Birth Generation
13. ASMR
14. Concept Mapping
15. Spaced Repetition
16. Interleaved practice
17. Pomodoro technique
18. Self Explanation
Google:
Try searching topics like: Top 10 causes of death. I ended up with this site: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm Here you can see how many people died each year in the US and from which disease. I also found this one https://listverse.com/2023/12/30/top-10-gruesome-deaths-that-will-make-you-nauseous/
So as we know from the audience they like the most gruesome deaths with some history, this will be the perfect topic to start with.
Topic:
But on the other side this one can give you multiple options to create more videos with the same style topic. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm As we learned from the competition, it works well to choose only 9 themes and continue on those. This is because you also want to keep your thumbnail easy to read. So I picked the 9 worst diseases and continued on those.
You can even choose to make this into 9 different topics by saying:
- Every type of CANCER Explained
- Every type of HEART DISEASE Explained
- Every type of ACCIDENTS Explained
This way you already have 9 new popular topics you know will do well.
I'll use the topic I find on: https://listverse.com/2023/12/30/top-10-gruesome-deaths-that-will-make-you-nauseous/. And I will use the Title: Most TERRIFYING DEATHS Explained In 13 Minutes. You can also find some different top 10 disturbing video facts on this website that you can use in your next videos.

How to create your Thumbnail?
You can always choose to outsource your thumbnails and pay roughly between €10 and €20 for them. Well with this niche I will seriously recommend doing this yourself. Especially if you already have some experience with Canva or Photoshop, or even no experience at all.
By making 9 different circles with different bright colors in Canva, you already create a focus point that stands out.
Add Text
Once you've done that, you can put the titles to each circle that you're going to explain something about. Since this niche is about explaining something easily, I chose to use a letter type that comes across as easy to almost everyone, which is Comic Sans.
Finishing touch
All you have to do now is add the icons, and you will end up with this.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience like?
(not so) Fun Facts
Wanting to add extra facts with the same sense of dark humor as you see in the video is what you see a lot in the comments. Your audience likes to provide some additional information about the topic to make the video even more interesting, and it gives an extra layer of intensity to your topic.
Illustration content
The way of illustrating and explaining the video is done the right way. You see diseases or ways of death, explained in a simple but clear way. That way, you know the viewer will stay hooked and come back for new content. By making small illustrated, sort of profile pictures of the diseases, will make it easier for viewers to remember and understanding the disease.
Intense Topics
You see your audience really likes intense topics whether it's about serial killers, the fiercest torture techniques or the most gruesome ways to die. This is a trick also often used with ASMR or Pimple popper videos. You will often find it either absolutely awful, or you find it so interesting that you can't get enough of it, as a result you're getting viewers back to watch more of your content.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience not like?
Copy and Paste
Sam O'Nella invented the wheel for this niche. What's great about this is you can use it for your own topics. EITHER, you have to be careful not to copy everything just like that, but definitely add your own value and originality to the video. The most hated thing is that everything is already copied by the competition and therefore fails.
