Why this
niche?
The channel in this niche is literally just starting, but the results achieved so far show huge potential for future videos. In this case, millions of views have not yet been achieved, but that is not surprising considering that the channel only has a few videos online yet. However, the fact that both of these videos have already achieved multiple ten of thousands of views and the channel has already managed to gather a very decent amount of subs, proves how big this channel can still become. On top of that, the videos definitely show room for improvement, so you can improve on this as well, achieving even better results. Your audience is a loyal group of viewers from different age groups, but the age of your audience can be controlled by you as a creator through your topic choice.

Competition ANALYSIS
These channels are showing potential for this niche.
The competition channel makes bodybuilding documentaries about ( so far) former professional bodybuilding icons. What has made this channel grow so quickly is the quality of the videos, especially the information shared. So the basis of the videos is an extremely strong script for which you need someone with good research skills. Be aware that these personalities received and sometimes still receive extreme amounts of publicity and that your viewers are often big fans. It's important to take this into account because your viewers will pick out any mistake and know when you don't have your facts straight. As indicated, this channel achieved exceptionally good results with only 3 videos. This shows the huge demand for high-quality bodybuilding documentaries. I suspect that the owner may be making the documentaries himself, which is why an AI voice over was chosen. This suspicion also arises from the fact that they only post once a month. The bodybuilding community of the past has many great personalities, but today's bodybuilding community with all the great fitness influencers also contains many names that will eventually end up on the same list. Suppose you start posting twice a week, make sure you use a real VO and at least the same level of video editing, you can quickly surpass this channel.

Great start
The video starts with a strong quote about who Mike Mentzer was.
0:07
Including real photos
As the VO talks about Mike Mentzer's short career, all of Mike Mentzer's photos pass by like a slide show. Except for the fact that I don't completely agree with the choice of photos (I’ll explain why in the video don’ts), I really like this way of showing photos. For example, you could show a sort of progression from photos at the beginning of his career to photos from later in his career.
0:09
Impossible to lose focus
This is a strong shot. It is almost impossible here for the viewer to lose focus. We see both a short clip of Mike Mentzer posing, with the year captioned. And next to it is a statement being proclaimed by the VO at that moment and highlighted at the same time.
0:17
Confirm the accuracy of your statements
While the VO mentions Mentzer’s training technique still being discussed, we see several individuals/content creators/fitness personalities passing by talking with or without a picture of Mike Mentzer to the left. This highlights the claim made in the script that Mike Mentzer's technique is still being talked about.
0:20
Visual effects support the script
While the VO says that Mike was controversial, the image slowly changes from black and white to red, which the viewer will associate with negativity.
0:24
Changing background music
The background music so far has been good, but even better is that the background music changes here and therefore also contributes to the pace of the video in that way.
Don'ts

AI voice over
Even though the voice over sounds okay, it is very obvious that it’s an AI voice over. You could improve on this by using an actual person to narrate your script.
0:02
Unreadable text on screen
Mike Mentzer’s name is nicely edited into the background, but because of the placing of his name, you can’t really read it. Now even though this might not be completely necessary because the audience probably knows his name already, it’s not too big of an effort to edit this shot differently so that his name can be read better.
0:03
Show certain footage a bit longer
I find it compelling that he includes Mike Mentzer's bodybuilding magazine covers to show how big he was in the bodybuilding industry at the time. However, what I would have done myself is, for example, have each cover come into focus for a moment individually so that the viewer has a little more time to take in what the cover looks like. The editing is fast and it is almost impossible to have looked at all three covers.
0:06
Disappearing text
Here the viewer again lets text disappear behind an image. It's not very distracting, but it looks a little silly that exactly that last letter is behind Mike Mentzer.
0:07
Not showing the right parts of a photo
I don't quite understand why all the pictures of Mike Mentzer were cut off at the height of his neck. Since he is a bodybuilder, this is exactly where I would put pictures that show his physique.
0:25
Too fast-paced editing
The creator has added text to the video here again. This time the text is typed while the VO pronounces the word. The video then transitions so quickly to the next shot that you can't actually read what was typed at all.
0:47
Poorly visible images
The creator highlights text from an article here that is most likely intended to emphasize, demonstrate or confirm what the VO is saying at that moment. Either because of the way of highlighting, or because of the filters that have been applied to the video, it is no longer possible to read exactly what is being highlighted.

Nicely added easter egg
There is a subtle, not-so-subtle effect in this thumbnail. We see Ronnie Coleman in the front with a brightly colored cape, crown and shining diamonds, which makes it clear that he is the best. But the effect I'm talking about is that his shadow is in the shape of a goat, referring to his designation as the G.O.A.T.. This is an abbreviation for Greatest Of All Time and this abbreviation is used in the title that accompanies this thumbnail. This results in a perfect interaction between the thumbnail and title. It is also smart that the creator chose a black and white body, but gave the cape and crown a bright color. This makes those elements stand out extra and the shining of the diamonds ensures that the thumbnail stands out among other thumbnails. The pose in which Ronnie Coleman stands and the size of his physique also leaves no doubt that he is a bodybuilder, should it happen that a viewer does not immediately recognize Ronnie Coleman himself.

Good concept but too dark
This thumbnail is already a lot darker and while scrolling, most likely only the mask of the face will catch the viewer's eye. However, the story being told by this thumbnail is very strong. Mike Mentzer looks sad in the photo in the background, but holds a mask in his hand of himself smiling. This tells the viewer that the real Mike Mentzer is hiding behind a certain image of cheerfulness and happiness. This also immediately tells the viewer that there are things about Mike Mentzer that you will not immediately know at first glance. I do believe that the thumbnail is too dark. The black and white could also have been brighter without directly distracting from the colored mask. In fact, I think it is cleverly done that there is so much contrast in color between the happy mask and the sad person behind the mask.

Interesting for connoisseurs
This thumbnail did not tell me much at first glance, except that I suspected that the man in the middle is Dorian Yates himself. To the left of Yates is an article where you can read the words 'Nasser' and 'Robbed'. The title accompanying this thumbnail 'The Controversial Rise of Dorian Yates (Documentary)' made it clear to me that there had apparently been something controversial about Yates' rise. Because of the article on the left, I suspected that Nasser had been involved. Further investigation revealed that this was indeed the case. I have not been able to figure out so easily what the claim “The Aesthetics Killer” had to do with Yates. So all in all, I think it is a not very good thumbnail that only means something to those who are familiar with the story. I would have preferred a scenario from which we could have already learned more about the controversy referred to in the title.

Revenue analysis
In this case, don't let the revenue analysis fool you. The revenue analysis is based on current results and the channel only has 2 videos online. Look at it this way: With the first 2 videos posted by this channel, the creator has already earned over $1000. There are few niches where you will achieve these kinds of results so quickly.

How do I find topics?
From the views of the videos online on the competition channel and the comments left by viewers, you can tell that the public appreciates iconic bodybuilders. So I would start by looking for stories about great bodybuilders from history that have an interesting story to tell. On the competition channel, we see a video about how one bodybuilder became the best bodybuilder ever (positive), but also a video about the dark truth behind another bodybuilder (negative). So the audience likes to watch both positive stories and negative stories. This makes the search for topics relatively easy: You either want to focus on a bodybuilder who has achieved a special achievement, had a unique contribution to the sport or is otherwise remarkable, or you want to focus on a bodybuilder whose story has a dark edge or negative details. However, what I would definitely also experiment with are today's bodybuilders: the major fitness influencers with millions of followers across various platforms who, in a while, will appear on the list of iconic bodybuilders in history.
Google: On Google you can find lots of lists with iconic bodybuilders and what they meant for the sport. I would also search for terms such as ‘bodybuilders who lost it all’, ‘most controversial bodybuilder’, ‘bodybuilders who fell from grace’ or ‘most influential bodybuilder’. As you’ll see, bodybuilding fans like to discuss such topics and will give their extensive opinions on why one bodybuilder was better than the other.
Topic
In this case, I went looking for a bodybuilder about whom discussion is possible. I would like to cover a topic on which opinions may be divided. This way I am calling on my viewers to interact with the content. Just be aware not to make claims in your title that are in no way true. For example, you cannot claim in this niche that a particular bodybuilder was the best ever, if no bodybuilding fan is ever going to agree with you on that. Then you will not come across as credible and this will start to work against you. I chose Jay Cutler. First, because he was mentioned in the comments of the competition channel, but also because (if I were to believe Reddit threads and the comments) opinions are divided on who was the better bodybuilder: Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler.
Here are a few more bodybuilders you could create content about. Possible titles for these topics are given at "How to create your title?".
- Dorian Yates
- Sergio Oliva
- Chris Cornier
- Joesthetics
- Sam Sulec

How to create your thumbnail?
For this video, I am going to look for a photo of Jay Cutler.
The story I want to tell is that Jay Cutler is actually a better bodybuilder than Ronnie Coleman. So somehow I will have to make this visual. Looking at that thumbnail of Ronnie Coleman makes you feel like he's the king. I want to create a similar feeling only with the message that Jay Cutler is the best. I envision Jay Cutler in a triumphant pose with a big, gold medal around his neck that says ‘1’. To give you an idea of what kind of medal I'm talking about, take a look at this image. By looking for images yourself that roughly represent what you are looking for and sharing them with your thumbnail designer, you will make it many times easier for your designer to understand what you are looking for.
In any case, what you want is for the resolution of the photo to be high and for the colors to be edited in such a way that, in this case, the medal stands out clearly (just like the cape, crown and diamonds in the Ronnie Coleman thumbnail, remember?). You could use the following photos from Jay Cutler:
• Option 1 (I would choose the photo on the right)
• Option 2
• Option 3
Eventually, if you have followed all the steps, this will be the final result:
