I discovered a channel in this niche that started just 4 months ago and is already pulling in over 2.2M views per month. Their content dives deep into the internet iceberg. The great thing about this niche, is that it's being around for a while and it still shows massive potential, which is a clear sign that there’s still plenty of success to be found here. So, if you're into creating videos about the most disturbing corners of the internet, this niche is definitely for you.

Nice voice-over

This is a great voiceover for this niche. I really like the tone and the way he's telling the story. The audience in this niche loves good storytelling and deep analysis of disturbing internet stories, so it’s essential to choose the right voiceover. This one is definitely a great example, especially considering the comments.

00:13

Meme clips

They use a lot of weird, creepy, sarcastic meme clips, and the pace is a bit fast. It seems like this style really clicks with the audience, so I'd definitely suggest sending examples of this type of editing to your editor. I'm not saying this is the secret to going viral, because how you tell the story and the script are way more important, but considering the views, this style definitely works well for this audience. So, if you're looking to start in this niche, it's something to keep in mind.

00:30

Real footage

I can't say this enough but using real footage in your video is a game-changer in almost any niche. It helps viewers connect more with the story, and it adds real value to your content. People tend to engage more when they see actual footage, as it makes the video feel more authentic and triggering to watch.

00:49

Nice thrilling sound effects

Using thrilling sound effects like these will give the video more of a crime-like vibe, which fits perfectly with the topics they’re discussing. These are small details, but they really set the mood and make the viewer feel a certain way while watching the video.

Don'ts

00:00

Warning

I like that they included a warning, but 7 seconds is a bit too long. As seen in the comments, warnings really trigger this audience, so it’s a smart move to include one. However, I wouldn't put it at the beginning of the video. I'd prefer to start with the story right away and then show the warning when a 'disturbing clip/situation' appears, but only for a maximum of three seconds. That way, you still get the triggering effect of the warning, and you can dive straight into the content from the first seconds of the video.

5:51

No triggering transitions

What they’re doing here is using the typical top 10 strategy. As you might know, I’m not a big fan of this approach and always point it out when I notice it in a niche. In this case, all they do is mention 'Level 1, Level 2, Level 3,' without giving the viewer a real reason to stick around for the next case.

You can easily improve this by adding one sentence during each transition, such as:

 • 'But if you thought this was shocking, just wait till you hear the next one...'
 • 'This is nothing compared to what’s coming next...'
 • 'Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, it does...'

These small changes can keep the audience engaged and curious to see what happens next.

TITLE RATING

Title analysis

Abyssal Detective

Used title 1

the Most Disturbing Internet Mysteries Iceberg

This title is fine. It’s short, simple, and clear, with strong trigger words like Most Disturbing, Internet Mysteries, and Iceberg. Judging by the views and the success of this title structure, it shows that you don’t need to overcomplicate a title, less is more. The title structure they use goes as follows:

The [TRIGGERWORD] + [TOPIC]

Other examples:

The Most TERRIFYING Internet Mysteries Iceberg

The Darkest Things on the Internet Iceberg

Abyssal Detective

Used title 2

the Most Disturbing 'Do Not Search Up' Iceberg

This is another great example of a title structure that works. This video was posted only 4 weeks ago and already has over half a million views. It’s easy to see why because this title creates a strong sense of FOMO and uses reverse psychology. By mentioning something viewers shouldn’t click on, it can make them even more curious. This topic and title are definitely worth remembering because they clearly trigger the audience and have proven to be very effective in this niche.

Abyssal Detective

Used title 3

the Horrible and Disturbing Internet Communities Iceberg

Same title structure, so there’s not much new to say about that. However, what I do notice is how well trigger words like Dark and Disturbing work in this niche. Almost every title on this channel includes the word Disturbing. This is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re planning to start in this niche, as these words seem to consistently grab attention and drive lots of clicks. Sometimes you’ll notice that a certain trigger word keeps appearing in the most popular titles, and if that one trigger word leads to more clicks, then I would definitely continue using 'disturbing' instead of reinventing the wheel. The trick is to keep going with what you see is working.

✅ Creepy style

I like the style they want to create because of the creepy feeling they create because instantly grabs people’s attention. Also, they only use 2 or 3 focus points, which is a good choice. The only thing I’d be careful with is the length of the text. If it’s longer than 3 words, people might not read it because it’s too long. On YouTube, people decide in split seconds whether to click, so that’s why I always say: keep it short and don’t use too much text.

How to find topics?

In this niche, it's crucial to focus on finding creative topics that stand out and engage the audience. One of the key things we've noticed after analyzing our competition’s channel is that topics like "the Internet iceberg" are very popular and seem to trigger lots of viewers. This format has gained a lot of traction because it shows the internet culture in a structured, layered way of disturbing situations, which draws lots of people in.

The "Internet Iceberg" concept works well because it breaks down internet topics into layers, starting with the most well-known ones and diving deeper into more obscure or disturbing stories. What sets this type of content apart is the deeper analysis. People don’t just want to hear the stories, they want to understand them. They want context, backstory, and a thorough exploration of why these stories are so disturbing. Providing this kind of detailed explanation is what keeps the audience coming back for more. If we take a look at the most popular videos of our competition channel (linked down below) than we can definetly notice the pattern:

1. the Most Disturbing Internet Mysteries Iceberg

2. the Most Disturbing Things on the Internet Iceberg

3. the Dark and Disturbing Occult Iceberg

Besides this, it’s important to take a closer look at what they’re discussing in these topics. Are they focusing on websites? Videos? What specific elements are they zooming in on? Can you spot any patterns or recurring themes in the content they cover? Are they talking about websites, disturbing internet videos, video games?

By analyzing the 'levels' of the Iceberg they discuss, you can gather a lot of inspiration. Below, I’ve provided some topic ideas to give you an idea of what you could use as topic inspiration in your own video if you want to start in this niche:

• Disturbing Websites

• Disturbing videos in general

• Disturbing videos on YouTube

• Disturbing photos in general

Topic:

To create my own topic in this niche, I started analyzing the channel Abyssal Detective. What I noticed about this channel is that their most popular video, The Most Disturbing Internet Mysteries, talks about several topics in one video. What stood out to me was that the first topic they discuss is about disturbing websites. This got me curious, so I checked out another channel, Sirius, and their most popular video is about The Deepest Unusual and Disturbing Website Iceberg. This shows that disturbing websites are a topic this audience is really interested in. I’ll add the links below for reference.

How to create your title?

I choose to go for this title because you can create FOMO with this one, and it includes lots of trigger words. Besides, I kept the word disturbing because we've seen that this pattern works well. The title structure I used goes as follows:

The Most Disturbing Website Iceberg You’ll Ever See

the [TRIGGERWORD] + [TOPIC] + [TRIGGERWORD]

Other examples:

• The Most Disturbing Internet Iceberg You Won’t Believe Exists

• The Most Disturbing Websites You Won’t Ever Visit Again

How to create your thumbnail?

First, I went to Google and stared looking for an image of an iceberg. This is what I found:

Scary person on the left

To shock the viewer, I wanted to add a creepy face on the left because this is something that works also very well by the competition. It will immediately grab the attention of many people because it's simply a scary face that viewers will look at.

Add more black shadow in Photoshop

To make it stand out even more I created a new layer under his scary face and added some black shadow so that it becomes more one picture.

Eventually, I added the text 'SACRIFICED 666 CHILDREN' because if there's one thing that gives almost everyone chills, it's topics that involve children. For that reason, I chose this text because it will trigger a large audience. So if you followed all the steps, your thumbnail should look something like this:
